Fiat 124 Spider (2017)

Fiat 124 Spider (2017)

The new Fiat 124 Spider revives the storied nameplate, bringing its classic Italian styling and performance to a new generation. Paying homage to the original 124 Spider nearly 50 years after its introduction, the Fiat 124 Spider delivers the ultimate Italian roadster experience with driving excitement, technology and safety combined with iconic Italian design.

Engaging driving dynamics through thoughtful engineering

In EMEA, the Fiat 124 Spider is available with the proven 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo four-cylinder engine, the engine's first application in a rear-wheel-drive vehicle. The engine, delivers 140 horsepower and 240 Nm. of torque, and is available with a six-speed manual transmission.
The Fiat 124 Spider's suspension uses a double-wishbone layout in front and a multilink in the rear, specifically tuned for greater stability while braking and turning. Steering is light and responsive with the use of an electric power assist (dual pinion) system.
The steering and suspension setup, lightweight frame, balanced weight distribution and turbocharged engine combine for a dynamic driving experience. Noise vibration and harshness (NVH) enhancements, including an acoustic front windshield and insulation treatments, also help to deliver a refined, quiet ride.

The all-new roadster is available with safety and security features, including adaptive front headlamps, and rear camera. A high-strength body delivers high rigidity and light weight.
The Fiat 124 Spider also includes an array of available technology features for added comfort and convenience, including the 7- inch touchscreen display with digital radio multimedia control, Bluetooth connectivity, heated seats and Keyless Enter'n Go.
A Bose premium sound system with nine speakers, including dual headrest speakers, is also available for superior sound quality even with the top down.

Design pays homage to past with modern interpretation of styling cues

The new Fiat 124 Spider, designed at Centro Stile in Turin, Italy, borrows cues from the original 1966 Spider - widely considered one of Fiat's most beautiful cars of all time - and reinterprets them for today. The 124 Spider has a timeless low-slung presence, with a classically beautiful bodyside, well-balanced proportions and a sporty cabin-to-hood ratio. Features like the hexagonal upper grille and grille pattern, "power domes" on the front hood and sharp horizontal rear lamps call to mind details of the historic Spider.
The interior is crafted and designed to focus on the occupants, with premium soft-touch materials throughout. Ergonomics were applied to emphasize the driving experience and ensure easy operation of the steering wheel, pedals and shifter while driving.
The Fiat 124 Spider is available in two trim levels: 124 Spider and Lusso. Each model is available in 8 exterior paint colors, including Rosso Passione (Solid Red), Bianco Gelato (Solid White), Nero Vesuvio (Black Metallic), Grigio Argento (Gray Metallic), Grigio Moda (Dark Gray Metallic) Bronzo Magnetico (Bronze Metallic), Azzurro Italia (Azure Metallic) and tri-coat Bianco Ghiaccio.

Special edition gives enthusiasts the chance to own one of the first Fiat 124 Spiders

To celebrate the return of the classic nameplate, 124 vehicles will be offered as a limited-edition Anniversary. Each will be individually numbered with a commemorative badge and available in Rosso Passione exterior paint with premium leather seats in black. The new Fiat 124 Spider will arrive in FIAT studios in EMEA in summer 2016.

BMW Compact Sedan Concept (2015)

BMW Compact Sedan Concept (2015)

The BMW Group has chosen 2015 Auto Guangzhou, one of the largest international motor shows in China, to present a very special new development to the global public: the company's vision of a four-door sedan for the compact segment. "The BMW Compact Sedan Concept reveals the potential we see in a compact sedan," says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. "It not only gives the driver and passengers generous amounts of space within a compact area but does so while providing the sporting ability you'd expect from BMW and an elegance otherwise only available in large BMW sedans. The quality and intrinsic value of the BMW Compact Sedan Concept are clear signals of our premium intentions for the car."

The car for a new generation

As great growth potential can be seen in the Chinese premium compact market, BMW has conducted in-depth observation and research for the segment's development trends and target customers. The BMW Compact Sedan Concept represents the approach to life of a generation of youth in China. These potential customers are confident, dynamic and extremely quality-conscious and have a feel for aesthetics. "The characterful design of the BMW Compact Sedan Concept embodies the driving pleasure offered by a sporting car with minimised exterior dimensions. It is as distinctive as it is essential - and, as such, it injects new life into the compact segment. This four-door sedan stands for everything that sets BMW apart," explains Karim Habib, Head of Design BMW Automobiles.

Fitting the BMW template from every angle - the exterior design

The compact and agile exterior of the BMW Compact Sedan Concept creates a familiar sedan silhouette based around a striking three-box design. Hallmark BMW proportions imbue the car with a dynamic allure unrivalled in its segment. Its sweeping bonnet and long wheelbase stretch the car visually, while the slightly set-back greenhouse further underlines its sporting nature. The clever use of time-honoured BMW elements, such as a long, prominent swage line, dynamic Hofmeister kink and surfaces moulded with impressive depth, ensures the car cuts an athletic figure from the side and highlights its relationship with other BMW vehicles. The four doors are integrated harmoniously into its proportions and allow easy entry for the driver and all passengers. Discreet soft-touch handles below the swage line open the doors as soon as a finger touches their metal surface.

Powerful interplay of surfaces

Precise edges and contours form dynamically chiselled surfaces, reflecting an assured interplay between light and shade that lends sculptural depth to the flanks of the car and conjures images of tensed muscles. The flared wheel arches rise out clearly from the body as it tapers in towards the road and further strengthen the impression of athletic intent. The exclusive exterior paint shade Liquid Metal Bronze adheres to the surfaces of the body like cast metal. The fine pigments in the paint shift between light and dark depending on the incidence of light, showcasing the car's attention-grabbing design language to maximum effect. The window surrounds and the weather strip-style exterior mirror stalks in polished aluminium are a classy flourish, while the exclusive 20-inch light-alloy wheels in intricate double-spoke design form a visual highlight with their bi-colour design and set the seal on the side view.

Front and rear ends exude undiluted dynamic allure

The designers have emphasised the width of the slim front end and ensured it picks up the sporting baton from the car's flanks. Its signature kidney grille and eye-catching twin circular headlights instantly identify the BMW Compact Sedan Concept as a BMW. The familiar form of the kidneys and their size convey the car's distinctive character: a seamless fusion of agility, sportiness and elegance. The hexagonal, dynamically "sawn-off" twin circular LED headlights on either side point inwards towards the kidney grille, creating a visual link between the kidneys and headlights that lends the car a purposeful look. The V-shaped central air intake is the starting point for a pervading design theme which splits the lower section of the front end into three sections and gives it a broader appearance. Surfaces merging into one another and stacked in different layers, and the interplay of those levels, lend extra depth and dynamism to the design.
Like the front end, the horizontally structured rear also makes a clear sporting statement. Lateral lines and a vibrant interplay of horizontal light and shadowed surfaces accentuate the width of the rear end and at the same time make the car look lower. The slim, elongated string of rear lights, with their prominent L shape, take this process a step further. An LED light element in the shape of an "L" inside the lights makes the characteristic light contours visible at night as well. The confidently sculpted rear apron reduces the gap between road and rear end, while a chrome insert that widens towards the outer edges of the rear apron adds a classy accent.

Sporty lightness and modern exclusivity - the interior

Glance into the interior of the BMW Compact Sedan Concept and its BMW family ties are immediately evident. The cockpit radiates a clear driver focus: all the lines, forms and controls are geared towards the person behind the wheel and their needs. This is highlighted by the prominent lines that converge in the direction of travel either side of the steering wheel. The resultant "cone of vision" sets the tone for the driver's area as a whole. The form of the horizontal, nozzle-shaped air vents and their internal structure continue the theme. The "cone of vision" tapers into a Head-Up Display with combiner screen, which projects all the relevant information into the driver's direct field of view.
Elongated horizontal lines and surfaces creating a generous feeling of space provide a counterpoint to the cabin's driver focus and sporty styling. For example, the instrument panel on the front passenger side extends into the doors in an elegant, horizontal movement, creating an inviting ambience for passengers. Exclusive Nappa leather, open-pored wood and brushed aluminium form an attractive triad of materials spreading across the whole of the instrument panel, whose leather-covered top surface with contrast stitching is a feature normally the preserve of luxury sedans. An unbroken insert in polished aluminium provides for a classy surround for the instrument panel, while orange-coloured contour lighting further accentuates its character-defining contours at night.
The doors' design picks up the instrument panel's horizontal lines and extends them into the flanks of the car in a dynamic sweep. The front door, for example, extends visually into the B-pillar and makes the interior feel bigger. Indeed, the cabin offers an unaccustomed level of space and openness for a car in this class. The sporty seats, which in the rear suggest two individual seats, further enhance this impression. Covered in naturally soft Nappa leather in warm Ivory and Grey Brown, as well as Muted Brown, they offer unbeatable comfort. Accents in Velocity Tulip - a snug shade of orange - underline the sporting geometry of the seats, which take their cue from racing buckets and accentuate the sporty character of the vehicle while at the same time meeting the comfort requirements of a premium vehicle. Beyond this, the large panoramic roof floods the interior with natural light and extends the space above the passengers' heads to underline the generous feeling of roominess.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S DTM Safety Car

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S DTM Safety Car

A new Safety Car celebrates its DTM premiere: at the second DTM race at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, the Mercedes-AMG GT S was deployed for the very first time. The new sports car will help to ensure maximum safety on the race track in the world's most popular touring car series. In technical terms, the 375 kW (510 hp) eight-cylinder sports car is for the most part the same as the series production vehicle - just like its counterpart from the FIA Formula 1 World Championship™, the Official Safety Car.
In its road-going guise the Mercedes-AMG GT S has turned heads since its market launch in March 2015 and now the sports car is also taking to the DTM stage. The new season of the German Touring Car Masters (DTM) got under way during the first weekend of May in Hockenheim. The second DTM race taking place at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz at the end of May will see the Mercedes-AMG GT S make its first appearance as the official Safety Car. As part of the DTM, the three manufacturers regularly switch their Safety Cars, meaning that the GT S will also be deployed at the fourth race in Zandvoort, Netherlands and at the final race in Hockenheim.

At the wheel of the official Safety Car will be racing driver Jürgen Kastenholz (47). He takes to the track when dangerous situations, such as an accident, extreme weather conditions or other incidents make it necessary for the vehicle to be deployed. The objective is to achieve maximum safety for the drivers, spectators and track marshals. After receiving a radio message from the race organisers, the Safety Car takes up its position at the head of the DTM field and guides the cars around the track until the normal course of the race can be resumed once more.

AMG sports cars also feature as the Official Safety Car in Formula 1®
The Mercedes-AMG GT S replaces the previous Safety Car, the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series, which saw active service in the DTM from 2012 to 2014. As the second sports car independently developed by Mercedes-AMG, the GT S features a virtually identical configuration to the Official Safety Car being deployed at all of the 19 races of the 2015 Formula 1® season. High cornering speeds, dynamic bursts of acceleration and fast lap times - the profile of requirements is a demanding one. The ultimate goal is to guide the powerful 360 kW (490 hp) DTM touring cars safely around the circuit. In doing so, the Safety Car must not drive too slowly, in order to prevent the tyres and brakes cooling down too much and the engines overheating.

To face up to such a hard job on the race rack the GT S boasts ideal qualifications: the front mid-engine concept with transaxle, the V8 biturbo engine with dry sump lubrication, the dual clutch transmission and the sports suspension with aluminium double-wishbone axles provide the basis for fast laps on the race circuit. Excellent driving dynamics are innate in the genetic make-up of the Mercedes-AMG GT S: the intelligent aluminium lightweight design guarantees not only a low vehicle weight but also a low centre of gravity for the vehicle and an advantageous weight distribution of 47 to 53 percent between front and rear axle.

Drivetrain matches that of the GT S road-going version
The drivetrain of the Safety Car is identical to that used on the road-going version of the AMG GT S. With a maximum output of 375 kW (510 hp) and peak torque of 650 Newton metres, the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine guarantees high-end performance: the GT S accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and attains a maximum speed of 310 km/h. As music to the ears of the fans in the stands and in front of their TV screens, the GT S is fitted with a modified Performance exhaust system for an even more striking AMG V8 engine sound which is predestined to give spectators goose bumps.
The Mercedes-AMG GT S clearly has race track performance in its genes, as only a small number of modifications were required to transform it into the DTM Safety Car. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission corresponds entirely to the series production unit, for example. The AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package with which the Safety Car is equipped is optionally available to any GT S customer for a further increase in driving dynamics. It comprises dynamic engine and transmission mounts and a specific engine application in "RACE" DYNAMIC SELECT transmission mode and in manual transmission mode "M". The package also includes tauter spring and damper tuning, more negative camber at the front axle as well as an adapted speed-sensitive sports steering system. The performance steering wheel in black DINAMICA microfibre and yellow highlights in the instrument cluster round off the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package.
The Safety Car runs on particularly light cross-spoke forged wheels with fully integrated wheel bolt covers. The forged wheels painted in matt black with high-sheen rim flanges are fitted with tyres in standard size 265/35 R 19 on 9 x 19 (front) and 295/30 R 20 on 11 x 20 (rear). This wheel/tyre combination is also optionally available to customers for the Mercedes-AMG GT and the GT S.
The high-performance ceramic composite braking system is also available as an option for the road-going version of the GT. The advantages of this system are lower weight, a longer service life and even better fade resistance thanks to the ceramic brake discs with a diameter of 402 millimetres at the front and 360 millimetres at the rear.

Bentley Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series (2016)

Bentley Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series (2016)

Bentley is taking its fusion of luxury and performance to new extremes with the launch of the Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series. This exclusive series is limited to just seven cars, each inspired by one of the seven Breitling Jets.
Renowned for their precision, speed and daring, this summer the Breitling Jet Team will be performing across the United States and Canada in a grand tour of epic proportions. To commemorate this spectacle, Bentley's Mulliner division has re-imagined the Continental GT Speed to mirror the distinctive look of the Breitling Jets, fusing extreme customisation with immense speed.
The exterior is painted in a striking duo-tone split of Hallmark and Onyx with highlights colour matched to the exact Pantone of Breitling's unique Yellow, reflecting the trademark look of the L-39 Albatros Jets.
This bespoke colour theme is continued on the interior, with unique sculpted seats featuring accents in Breitling Yellow.
Taking customisation to new heights, each car is individually numbered and corresponds to one of the seven Breitling Jets. The dashboard's carbon fibre fascia panel displays an image of the seven planes in their signature Avenger flight formation, with the corresponding jet highlighted in Breitling Yellow.
Similarly, Mulliner has matched the hide and thread to Breitling's signature yellow and designed a series of logos and graphics for the headrests that highlight the number of each car and the jet that inspired it. The tread plate plaques are also individually numbered.
The series will debut at the Boeing Seafair Airshow on 31st July, 2015 in Seattle, where the Breitling Jet Team is performing. The key for each car will be handed over to its owner by the corresponding plane's pilot, but not until they have experienced a flight in the jet that inspired their car.
Geoff Dowding, Director of Mulliner, said: "The Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series demonstrates the level of customisation Mulliner can achieve for customers. Creating this very special edition has been an exciting experience for the entire team, taking inspiration from the Breitling Jet Team's grand tour."
